Remodeled Kitchen “Bistro” Nook

Kitchen Nook Day

After living in our home for 15 years, we NEVER used our kitchen dining area. The glass table we had was too large for the area and because of that, we weren’t using the bench seat at all.

As luck would have it, the table broke in two this spring! So, we were forced to think about how we’d want to remodel.

Enter Pier 1…wandering through one day, noticed this rug on clearance and snagged it. I think it’s a discontinued Magnolia style, but not positive. It became the item I wanted to design around.

We knew we wanted to use the thin brick on at least part of the wall, and it matched the rug perfectly. We painted the walls in Jogging Path gray (so long, 1990’s wallpaper!). My husband asked for chairs that wouldn’t look bulky. Found these on Amazon.

But our favorite is the table from Wayfair. The base is super heavy, so there’s no risk of it turning over. Ordered the light fixture from there, too. Never thought I was into the  industrial look, but apparently, I am!

Found the bench cushions at At Home (Garden Ridge) – knew they were a bit short, but also wanted to add some decor at ends, so when I found these plug in lights there, too, I grabbed them. Total impulse, but we love the way they throw light up. (We’ve also now plugged them into a smart outlet, so Alexa does all the work to turn them on/off vs. my having to reach over to the switches which I’ve tried to hide under the cushions!

Throw in three new matching dog beds from Home Goods and we’re loving our new bistro. Including a shot from evening “happy hour” during Easter (hence, the small bunnies in center! 🙂
