I realize that my disclaimer that my photography skills will improve is wearing thin, but with one of my favorite holidays quickly approaching, I did want to share a couple of years’ worth of Valentine’s Day mantels.
As you can see, the cherry blossom stems (Pier 1), pearl string light (Home Goods) and beveled window panes (Mom hand-me-downs) were staples in both. But I swapped out a few things.
I’m still partial to the tree stump that my husband customized for me with our initials. I realize that this is a personal style choice, but it’s special since he made it.

I added my Love Sweet Love sign after I snapped the comparison photo and thought it tied the color scheme in nicely.

Other random additions from prior year were the heart ornaments I believe I bought in 2005 and never had put on my Christmas tree (ridiculous) and finally realized I should keep them out for Valentine’s. I’d also snagged the Pier 1 mantel scarf on clearance after the holidays last year and decided that it gold swirls and tassels go well with hearts. (please pretend not to notice the giant crease down the middle that I was too lazy to iron twice).
So, both have elements I love, but I am craving a little more color, so next year will likely revert to the traditional reds and pinks. Let me know if you have a favorite!
