Winter Mantel – as “icy” as it gets in TX

That transition from Christmas to January is always a little painful – especially when everything has been so bright and colorful and suddenly seems so…blah.

But thanks to Mom, this past year I had a little extra new year inspiration. She’d run across two window panes in storage that she’d never gotten around to using. Before she could get the question “Would you like to take them?” out of her mouth, I was packing them up for the trip to Austin!

Maybe not as vibrant as December’s reds and greens, but I like the way the lights reflect and almost look icy in the windows. I paired the panes with my oh-so-beloved Target lanterns and candles. Our old hand blown glass globes also seemed to fit the frozenesque look with the Waterford vase full of lighted branches.

Since you never quite know what you’ll wake up to on winter mornings in Texas, it was fun to add that touch of ‘ice’ to our living room…and maybe we’ll actually need a fire to go with it this year!
