So, do you ever buy someone a Christmas gift and then decide it’s not quite right for them…but you wait too long to return it…and then you decide you really wanted to keep it all along for yourself?? Well, that’s what happened with the kneeling silver reindeer in front of the fireplace. I bought him for a family member at Z Gallerie last year and then found something different at the last minute and kept that box taped up and untouched. I told myself I’d give him away this year…but then I opened the box. And fell in love.

This photo makes him look a bit golden, but he’s pure silver and I named him Hi-Yo which made my husband laugh and he decided we needed to keep him, too. Score.
Then I set out for Hobby Lobby to figure out what silver touches I could add. Most of my stuff from the past two years was in neutral because I used my Willow Tree Nativity.Β All Christmas decor was 50% off…so I did get a little crazy.
The big splurge was on the cracked mirror candle holders. We have some lamps from Home Goods (not pictured) that are EXACTLY like that, so it just matched too perfectly not to be fate. AND the one on the far left is hard to see but it lights up and the glitter inside moves around like a snowglobe–WHAT?? LOVE.

I intended to buy some galvanized metal letters to spell out JOY because I’d seen so many beautiful pins that I wanted to copy…but then I found the little package of NOEL glittered letters AND a $5 red table runner and I decided that was a better (and cheaper, since I splurged on the candeholders!) fit for this year.

I paired the red and silver glittered branches with my white lighted one (from Big Lots, circa 2014) and added more candles in red and silver. Will probably keep playing around with those.
I’m not too big on bows, but I did want to add silver to the fireplace screen, so trying that on for size. Also, I didn’t really want to go with garland, so I used two stocking holders I already had and added our four-legged kiddos’ stockings for a fun touch.
So, this is what a little reindeer named Hi-Yo inspired…he was definitely meant to live here. π

Merry Christmas from our home to yours!
