From time to time, I definitely spend waaay too much time on Pinterest. Like most of us, I have tons of pins that I’ve never actually done anything with. However, sometimes I take one of those and do a little thing I like to call Spinterest-which just means I adapt whatever I’ve seen to use whatever I have (or whatever I can actually DO versus some of those crafty superwomen).
With our Small Group coming over this past week, I wanted to do something healthier (because I’d gotten a wee bit of feedback on the giant cookies I kept buying for them). When I saw a turkey made of fruit, I instantly pinned it. But when it came time to do my own, I decided it would be better to mix in a bit of cheese.
My oh-so-incredible husband offered to go to the store for me to pick up the ingredients. I had listed cubed cheese and am SO lucky that HE was shopping because when he didn’t see cubes at Sprouts, he bought cheese strips. Who knew that those would turn out to be the perfect touch as feathers for what we lovingly dubbed the Fruiturkey!
All in, this took about 45 minutes to put together, so I highly recommend him as a treat for your next Thanksgiving gathering.
P.S. The turkey’s standing in Mary’s Gone Crackers Chipotle Tomato Organic whole-grain Sticks and Twigs Pretzels and his eyes are two dots of vanilla icing that I had in the fridge with a half raisin on each.
